Day-by-Day Birding Itinerary
Day 1: Mombasa – Arabuko Sokoke Forest
Depart from your hotel or airport in Mombasa and drive north toward Arabuko Sokoke Forest, East Africa’s largest coastal forest. Birding starts right away as you explore this unique habitat, home to rare species like the Sokoke scops owl, Amani sunbird, and Clarke’s weaver.

Day 2: Arabuko Sokoke – Tsavo East National Park
After a morning birding walk, proceed to Tsavo East, known for its open plains and riverine habitats. Expect sightings of the golden-breasted starling, vulturine guineafowl, martial eagle, and African hawk-eagle.
Afternoon game drive focuses on both big game and birdlife.
Day 3: Tsavo East – Tsavo West National Park
Transfer to Tsavo West, which offers contrasting landscapes including volcanic hills and wetlands like Mzima Springs. Birders can spot the African finfoot, Narina trogon, and Verreaux’s eagle.

Day 6: Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru National Park
