I did a 3 days/2 nights Tsavo East and West safari and I can easily say - it was the best experience of my life.

I did a comprehensive research before booking a trip. Steve offered us the best price as well as he was the only one to offer stay at a different lodge (Lion Hill Safari Lodge). This lodge seems to be less crowded, offering clean rooms, good view and amazing food.

We got an amazing driver/tour guide. He put a lot of effort into making sure we get to see all the animals. He knew answers to all our questions, always looked after us. He helped us with the check ins, always carried our luggage.

We saw many animals including giraffes, elephants, lions, buffalos, zebras and many more.

I highly recommend contacting Steve or Richard with all your needs and questions. They've been doing safaris for many years and they are able to provide once in a life time experience.

Definitely more than I expected, really enjoyed every minute of safari. Recommend Hamisi our guide who took a lot of effort to show us the best of wildlife experience. The only suggestion is to make optional the stop for souvenirs at the beginning, it was a waste of time and got an impression its a “hidden” business, not necessary

We had a wonderful one-day safari organized by Okumu. He is very professional and highly involved in the organization. Communication with him was very easy and quick, he provided a proper invoice, and he met us at our hotel before the safari to discuss all the details, which made us feel well prepared and taken care of.

Our safari guide was Hamisi, who has extensive knowledge about wildlife. He was excellent at spotting animals and shared many interesting facts and stories about them during the drive. Thanks to him, we saw a wide variety of animals and learned a lot.

It was an amazing day and a truly memorable safari experience. We highly recommend Okumu and his team to anyone looking for a well-organized and authentic safari.

We booked Steve and Richards Safari's based on the reviews we had read through on various platforms. All were overwhelmingly positive. Still ... we had some nerves about booking, as you read some horror stories about scams. I am pleased that we went through with the booking, as it was truly a memorable experience in Kenya. Departing from Mombasa we went to Tsavo East National Park, for day one of the adventure. Overnight was at a beautiful boutique lodge Called Lion Hill. It was a perfect place to relax in between safari's. The food was excellent, and the view over the park was stunning. On Day 2, after a morning safari in Tsavo East, we ventured into Tsavo West National Park. it is so different to the open plains of the East, and was stunning in natural beauty. the lodge was deep into the park, and was tranquil and a lovely place to rest for the evening. Amongst other things we saw Buffalo, Impala, Gazelle, Baboon, Ostrich, Zebra, Giraffe,
Hippo, Warthog, Elephant, Monkey, Leopard, Lion, Floor squirrel, Mongoose, Porcupine, Oryx and crocodile. We missed the Rhino's but it was a great experience. The reasonable price included all transport, park entry fees, accomodation and meals, so it was exceptioanlly good value. Door to door was lovely, and our driver and guide Solomon was excellent. Steve is just a lovely and enthusiastic operator, and was so accomodating to all questions and issues. Very happy to recommend.

I recently went on a 2-day safari in Tsavo East, Kenya, organized by Steve and Richard Safari, and it was an unforgettable experience. Even though Tsavo East doesn’t have rhinos and we didn’t get to see the full Big Five, we still saw an amazing variety of wildlife — including elephants, lions, giraffes, and so much more. Every moment felt special.

Our lodge was located on Lions Hill, offering a stunning view over the national park and an absolutely breathtaking sunrise. The food selection at the lodge exceeded our expectations, and everything we tried was delicious.

What truly made the experience outstanding were the people. You could really feel that both the guide and driver wanted us to have the best possible safari. By communicating with other guides in the park, our driver Solomon managed to take us to places where we could spot lions and many other animals. Solomon did a fantastic job and deserves special praise.

Steve himself was incredibly friendly and professional. He picked us up personally at our hotel, was always available for questions, and genuinely cared about making our trip memorable. His warm and helpful manner made us feel safe and well taken care of from start to finish.

I can absolutely recommend Steve and Richard Safari to anyone looking for a well-organized, personal, and unforgettable safari experience in Kenya.

Super experience! Steve makes the safari totally worth it. We went to Tsavo East with him, where he provided an airport drop off for me at the end! From being respectful of timing to customising the trip accordingly, to ensuring we get to see all the wild life we highlighted, he ensures you are beyond satisfied. Lovely experience! We would definitely come again and recommend Steve to anyone looking for a Safari tour.

We had an unforgettable two-day safari experience in Tsavo East and West with Steve and Richard Safaris, and we cannot recommend them highly enough.

From the beginning, Steve was extremely professional, punctual, and trustworthy. He shared a wealth of knowledge about the animals and the landscape, telling us many fascinating facts and stories during the game drives. He was always patient and happy to answer all of our questions, no matter how many we asked — which made the experience even more enriching.

Our driver, Simon, was absolutely wonderful. He was incredibly patient, calm, and skilled behind the wheel, even during long hours of driving across diverse terrains. His gentle demeanour and friendly attitude made the journey even more enjoyable, especially for our 5-year-old son.

A real highlight was our night at Ngulia Lodge, where we could watch elephants and buffalo coming to the waterhole straight from our bed. In the early morning, we were greeted by baboons and many other wild animals just outside — a magical and unforgettable moment. With a bit of a luck you can see leopard coming in the evening or spotting a rhino through the scope thanks to the beautiful view over the Rhino Sanctuary - definitely recommend!

We spent two amazing days in their company, exploring the beauty of Kenya’s wildlife and nature. The entire experience was smooth, educational, and full of wonder — a true family adventure to remember.

Thank you, Steve, Simon, and the whole team!

My Safari trip to Tsavo East/West was such an amazing experience! I saw many animals including tons of elephants, zebra, giraffes and even a leopard! The best part was the unexpected close up meeting with a lioness hunting buffalo with her 2 cubs. Tsavo West is rugged, wild, straight out of Jurassic park with stunning landscape. Harder to see animals but still an amazing adventure and worth it for the scenery. Both my rooms had fantastic views, but my room at The Ngulia Lodge overlooked a watering hole where many elephants came to play! I woke up in the middle of the night to a herd of buffalo playing there too!
I would highly recommend Steve because he was good at communicating, checking in regularly to see how I was, plus he gave me a good deal. Both my driver and guide were friendly and very professional.
I wish I could do it all over again! Thank you team for organising a trip of a lifetime that I will never forget!

On July 11th, I had a truly unforgettable one-day safari in Tsavo East with Steve and Solomon. From start to finish, everything was perfectly organized and stress-free — I can wholeheartedly recommend going on safari with Steve!

I found him through great reviews and reached out via WhatsApp. Communication was super smooth, friendly, and professional. We discussed all the details in advance, and Steve patiently answered every question I had.

We started our journey from Diani Beach early in the morning. The drive was safe and very comfortable — no rushing or reckless driving. As we entered the park, Steve asked which animals I was most excited to see, and from that moment, the adventure began! He stays in constant contact with other guides via radio, which really helps to locate the animals in real time.

Steve is not only a great guide, but also a fantastic storyteller — he shared lots of fascinating facts about the animals, the park, and answered all of my questions with enthusiasm and knowledge.

I was lucky enough to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, hippos, and many more amazing animals — it was magical!

What really made this safari special was Steve himself. He puts his heart into what he does and goes above and beyond to make sure your experience is unforgettable.

We made a few stops throughout the day, and Steve had everything covered — including a delicious lunch. After the safari, we even visited a Maasai village, which I highly recommend as well.

This day was one of the absolute highlights of my trip — full of emotions, beauty, and unforgettable memories.

Thank you so much, Steve! You made this day truly special!

We chose Richard & Steve Safari for our Kenyan adventure and it was absolutely the right decision. They crafted a personalized program that included Tsavo East, Tsavo West, and Taita Hills, allowing us to experience a wide variety of landscapes and wildlife.

Our driver Solomon was highly experienced and knowledgeable. He knew exactly where to go and how to position the vehicle so we could get the best views and photos of animals – including lions from just a few meters away. He also made sure to capture photos and videos of us, adding a special touch to the entire journey.

The service from the company was outstanding – smooth communication, great planning, and warm hospitality. If you’re looking for a reliable and passionate safari company, we highly recommend Richard & Steve Safari.

I can’t recommend Steve and Richard Safaris enough! Our safari adventure was simply wonderful from start to finish. The highlight for us was definitely Taita Hills – such a magical place, filled with wildlife and incredible views. It felt like we were part of a nature documentary.

We also had a fantastic stay at Voi Safari Lodge, where we could watch elephants from the terrace – surreal!

A huge shoutout to our driver Solomon – he was exceptional! Very experienced, patient, and always eager to give us insights about the animals and surroundings. We felt safe, informed, and relaxed the entire time.

The safari van was also top-notch: very comfortable, clean, and perfect for game viewing. We were lucky to see so many animals up close, and we appreciated how smoothly everything was planned and executed.

This was one of the most memorable trips we’ve ever taken, and we’re so grateful to Steve and Richard Safaris for making it happen. Highly, highly recommended!

Incredible 1-Day Safari Experience!

We recently went on a 1-day safari with this wonderful company in Mombasa and it was absolutely amazing! From the very start, the booking process was quick, easy, and efficient — they responded promptly and offered honest, friendly service with no hidden charges, which we really appreciated.

Most safari trips are usually 2 days, but we specifically wanted a 1-day experience, and they made it happen without any hassle. The driver arrived exactly on time at 4:30 AM for pick-up, and the 3-hour drive to the park was smooth and comfortable.

Our guides were professional, kind, and extremely knowledgeable. They took their time explaining each animal we encountered, sharing fun facts and making sure we didn’t miss anything. We saw so many elephants — it was magical to watch them roam freely in their natural home.

And just when I thought it couldn’t get better, we spotted the king of the jungle! Seeing lions up close in the wild was beyond breathtaking — it’s something I’ll never forget.

Another thoughtful touch was the lunch box they provided. After a morning of excitement, we were starving and the lunch was just what we needed — fresh, well-packed, and with good options to choose from.

What also stood out was how fairly priced everything was. In a market where it’s easy to feel overcharged as a tourist, this family-run business was transparent and honest from start to finish. No hidden fees, just genuine, fantastic service.

They offer much more than just 1-day safaris too, and after this wonderful experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to book a longer one with them next time.

Highly, highly recommend this company if you’re looking for a safe, unforgettable safari experience with people who genuinely care about their guests. It was worth every minute and every penny. Can’t wait to go back!

The largest overland animal movement on earth — over 1.5 million wildebeest and a quarter of a million zebras move in a continuous circuit between Tanzania's Serengeti and Kenya's Masai Mara. The dramatic Mara River crossings typically peak between July and October.

Neutral-coloured lightweight clothing (khaki, olive, tan), a warm fleece for early morning drives, high-SPF sunscreen, insect repellent, binoculars, a camera with extra memory cards, and a soft-sided bag. Avoid bright colours and blue — blue attracts tsetse flies.

An early morning game drive starts at sunrise (around 6:00 AM) when predators are most active. You return for breakfast, then rest during the hottest midday hours. A late afternoon drive runs from around 4:00 PM until sunset, followed by dinner at the lodge.

Most lodges and camps offer Wi-Fi, though bush locations can be slow. We recommend downloading offline maps and entertainment before departure. Many guests find that disconnecting from screens is one of the most refreshing parts of a safari.

Absolutely — Kenya safaris are wonderful for families. Most lodges are family-friendly and children aged 3 and above are welcome on game drives. Some lodges have minimum age limits for walking safaris (usually 12+). Let us know your children's ages and we will tailor everything accordingly.
