Day 1: Mombasa – Tsavo East National Park
Your safari begins with an early morning pickup from your hotel, residence, or airport in Mombasa, or Diani, depending on your preference. After a short briefing by your professional safari guide, you’ll depart for Tsavo East National Park, one of Kenya’s largest and most wildlife-rich parks.
Upon entering the park, you’ll enjoy your first game drive en route to the lodge, giving you an excellent introduction to Tsavo East’s vast landscapes and abundant wildlife. This area is famous for its red elephants, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras, and a wide variety of birdlife. You may also spot crocodiles and hippos along the Galana River.
You’ll arrive at your lodge or tented camp in time for lunch, followed by a short rest.
In the afternoon, head out for an extended game drive, exploring different sections of the park as the temperatures cool and animals become more active. Your guide will focus on maximizing wildlife sightings while sharing insights about the Tsavo ecosystem.
As the sun sets, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Enjoy a hot lunch at the lodge, followed by time to relax and take in views of the surrounding landscape. On clear days, this is when you may get your first sight of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest mountain.
In the afternoon, head out for a game drive in Amboseli National Park. Amboseli is world-famous for its large elephant herds, often seen walking across the plains with Mount Kilimanjaro as a dramatic backdrop.
