Day 2: Tsavo East – Taita Hills – Salt Lick Safari Lodge
After an early breakfast, depart Tsavo East and continue toward the scenic Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary. The drive is short and rewarding. Flat savannahs slowly give way to rolling hills and dense greenery. Cooler mountain air replaces Tsavo’s dry heat.
Arrive at Taita Hills Wildlife Sanctuary, a private conservancy bordering Tsavo West. The sanctuary is known for fewer vehicles and closer wildlife encounters. Enjoy a guided game drive through hills, woodlands, and natural waterholes. Common sightings include elephants, giraffes, buffalo, lions, and several antelope species.
Later, arrive at the iconic Salt Lick Safari Lodge, built on stilts above active waterholes. Check in and enjoy lunch at the lodge. Wildlife often gathers below as you dine.
In the afternoon, head out for another game drive within the sanctuary. Elevated viewpoints offer excellent photography opportunities. The private setting allows relaxed and unrushed wildlife viewing.
As evening approaches, return to Salt Lick Safari Lodge. Dinner is served at the main restaurant. From your room or viewing decks, watch animals visit the floodlit waterholes. This is one of Salt Lick’s most memorable experiences.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3: Final Game Drive & Return to Mombasa
At dawn, enjoy your final early morning game drive. Cooler temperatures bring increased wildlife activity. This is your last chance for close sightings and standout photos in Taita Hills.
After the drive, return to the lodge for breakfast. Take time to relax and soak in the peaceful surroundings before departure.
Begin the journey back to Mombasa late morning. The drive offers time to reflect on the highlights of your safari. Think back to Tsavo’s red elephants, rolling Taita Hills, and unforgettable wildlife moments.
Arrive in Mombasa in the afternoon. You will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport. While the safari ends here, the memories stay with you long after.

Tips for an Unforgettable Safari Experience
Planning ahead makes a big difference on safari.
Choose the right season:
The dry season from June to October offers the best wildlife viewing. Animals gather around water sources. Vegetation is thinner.
The wet season from November to May has fewer crowds. Landscapes are greener. Baby animals are common.
Pack smart:
Wear lightweight clothing in neutral colors. This helps you stay cool and blend into the environment. Bring a hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Sturdy shoes are useful for lodge walks and nature activities.
Follow park guidelines:
Always respect wildlife space. Keep noise low and movements slow. Never feed or approach animals. These rules protect both you and the wildlife.
